HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT:

Effective grantmaking requires close communication between applicants and Foundation staff. Potential applicants are encouraged to email, laborde@comfoundsb.org, or call Liz LaBorde, Director of Programs (221-0582), to discuss a project or program idea prior to submitting an application. The Community Foundation of Shreveport-Bossier is a permanent community endowment, established in 1961 and composed of 95 grantmaking funds. These funds provide money in perpetuity to meet the most pressing community needs and take advantage of the best opportunities to improve the quality of life in Caddo and Bossier Parishes, Louisiana.

Twice a year the Foundation awards competitive grants to non-profit organizations for programs that benefit Caddo and Bossier Parishes. The Foundation seeks to fund programs and projects that efficiently and effectively address our community’s most pressing needs and/or seize opportunities to make positive change in our community. For nonprofit organizations interested in applying for a Foundation grant, please review the questions below prior to submitting an application or contacting the Foundation’s Director of Programs.

  1. Will the program or service for which you are requesting funds benefit Caddo or Bossier Parish residents?

  2. Has your organization been recognized by the IRS as exempt from federal taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code?

  3. Will the funding be used for a charitable purpose?

  4. Do you have permission to apply from your organization’s Board of Directors?

  5. Has someone from your organization attended one of the Foundation's mandatory grant training sessions? Upcoming training sessions will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 10 a.m. and Thursday, June 19 at 2 p.m. Contact Sherry Carswell at 221-0582 or e-mail at carswell@comfoundsb.org.
