The Community Foundation of Shreveport-Bossier is our community’s savings account! Since 1961, we have strengthened our community through effective stewardship of the generosity of past donors and are poised to lead a new generation of givers to address the challenges that face our region.

Thanks to the foresight of our donors, the Foundation has been a source for both small and large agencies to obtain initial funding, program funding, and transitional funding. Without initial gifts to Biomedical Research Institute, Sci-port Discovery Center, Providence House, and others, these organizations might not have been able to leverage the initial funds that enabled them to leverage other funds both locally and nationally. Since inception, we have invested nearly $28,000,000 in our community!

A grant from the CFSB recognizes the significance of the project in our community, and operates as a “seal of approval” to encourage funding from other sources.

We have given gifts to 355 local organizations over the years. Some of these are:

Alliance for Education $561,507
Biomedical Research Foundation $2,000.693
Glen Retirement System $755,015
KDAQ $428,925
Volunteers of America $1,881,418
Providence House $772,980
Sci-Port $814,180
Shreveport Symphony $1,338,524
SRAC $171,342
Shreveport-Bossier Community Renewal $461,197
Caddo Parish Schools $177,737

*all figures through April 2007

In addition, we give scholarships to area colleges/students ($155,000 annually)
